For the little marines out there, I've created these two dresses. I have more of this fabric. However, it seems like the print is darker than most of the Marine uniforms I've seen around here. So if anyone happens to be a subject matter expert on Marine uniforms, please let me know if this looks right.
And does anyone know what a Devil Dog is? Initially, my husband said, "oh it's a little Jar head dress." Then he quickly added, that wouldn't be a good name to go with, and he suggested Devil Dog...a term I've never heard before. Certainly, this is uncharted territory for me.

A devil dog? It's a chocolate, cream filled cake shaped quite like a twinkie. I used to get them in my lunch box when I was a kid. :-)
lore is that the Germans gave them the nickname because they said the Marines fought with such tenacity that they were 'dogs of the devil' or 'dogs from hell'. calling a marine a 'devil dog' is a 'nice' term, calling them 'jarhead'-not so much.
'leatherneck' is another one they like though.

Hello-How neat it is to discover you make children's clothes in dedication to servicemembers. My husband and I are both former Marines and the term devil dog was given to the Marines by the Germans because they fought with such fierceness during battle (WWI and Battle of Belleau Wood)-just like your previous commenter says.
Thank you to your husband for serving and to you for being a dedicated Army wife-it takes a great woman to stand behind her husband who is serving his country. :)
